ABOUT JANE
Jane has been painting ever since she can remember, an avid animal lover, her favorite subject as a child was horses, her love of Golden Retrievers began when she had one as a family pet in the early 80's. Born in England, Jane grew up in New Zealand. She studied art and art history at Palmerston North Girls High School, and then pursed other interests, gaining a Bachelor of Agriculture at Massey University. Art took a back seat for many years, with work, family and travel commitments, but that urge to paint again has always been lurking in the back ground. Jane is married with two children, she and her family settled in Ballarat Victoria, Australia where they now live. As well as painting Jane has established a successful kennel and breeds and show Golden Retrievers under the Camuka prefix. Her love for this breed has lead to her demand for painting many Golden’s. Jane also worked as a veterinary nurse for many years, and surrounds herself with animals and she has a great love and compassion for all creatures great and small. She regularly treated wildlife as well as domestic animals so has enjoyed working with some of Australia's diverse wildlife close up. Although more known for her animal painting, recent trips to her homeland New Zealand, give Jane the opportunity to study the landscapes and bring home many images that she hopes to start work on latter in 2006. "I am keen to develop a freer style of painting that landscapes allow. I paint to please myself, and to bring joy to others, I think it is very important to be true to the joy of painting. " Although self taught, Jane studied art throughout school and in 2005 - decided to take her art more seriously and begun attending classes with world renowned wildlife artist Steve Morvell. She has enjoyed developing her art skills, especially with pastels, which she finds a fantastic medium to use. "I am grateful to Steve for his tuition and patience over the past years, his passion for wildlife and desire to share his knowledge has been pivotal in my creative journey". Jane works from her home studio, and has now taken her own direction, and is enjoying developing her own unique art style. Jane regularly exhibits her artworks in art shows with some success, and also in private galleries, she is also in demand for commission work and has paintings in private collections in the USA, UK, NZ & Australia.
